It’s All Music™ is a lecture performance which makes radical connections between classical composers and rock, pop & electronic dance musicians. By jumping inside the music, pianist, composer & educator, Simon Lasky, demonstrates how the musical devices which listeners connect with so readily in many genres of pop music, also exist in great classical works.

Available as a one-off 60 minute multimedia lecture presentation or a series of lectures, It’s All Music™ will engage, thrill and inform 14-21 year old students and can be geared towards either a specialist or a non-specialist audience.

Using cleverly conceived audio & video extracts, and live musical examples performed by Simon at the piano, students will be shown how and why musical processes in pop songs and symphonies, thrash metal records and string quartets, hip-hop tracks and violin sonatas, cause them a physiological and emotional reaction and will be encouraged to enjoy a healthier, more varied and more soul-enriching musical diet.
